I have a 1937-115C. Can someone tell me what gauge, size and color of spark plug wires to get? Are they cloth or rubber? Is there a good supplier to order them from? Thank you, Bob

Here's a couple of more suppliers for the wire and terminals. Should be lacquered cloth, 7mm and all sell that size & type but one of the experts should be along to give you color particulars. The few engines shown in photo gallery shots seem to have an assortment.

For the correct appearance it should be cloth covered, black lacquered.

Thank you for your help. I do have a couple of other questions. Do you know the gauge of the spark plug wires? And, what gauge are the battery to starter cables?

Thanks,

Bob

As HH56 has already noted above, high tension wires should be 7 mm. Battery cable to the starter might have originally been 1 gauge, but O gauge is a better choice IMO.

Brillman is a respectable source for all these needs. www.brillman.com

NAPA sells spark plug wire by the foot, and you can cut them to length. They also sell the brass fittings. The wire is not correct in that it's not fabric wrapped, but it works well. You can also buy their 7.5 gauge kit for a 68 or so Plymouth 318 V8. The lengths work well. Once again, not stock but easy to get and it works great.

For the few bucks that it costs, if correct appearance is important to you, get the cloth-covered and lacquered stuff from Brillman or any of the many sources for it. You get the advantages of modern wire inside and the correct appearance on the outside.
