Holey Thick Bondo

After much delay, I finally got to do a little more work. I welded the second rear body mount into place.
Time to attack some of the more severe rust. The worst of it is the Driver's side rear wheel well. I could tell that there was filler on the panel, but it didn't know there was so much. Instead of trying to sand it all off, which would have taken forever, I drilled holes through the thickest parts. Then used a cutoff wheel to score the rest with a grid pattern and used a chisel to knock the rest of it off. They had well over a half inch of bondo, and there wasn't any metal to back it up. They just filled the giant whole with filler and repainted. Now I'm wondering if the repair panels from classics2current are worth the $130 they're charging.

I know, right?
There's also a pretty hefty dent on the same panel further back that was just filled with bondo as well. Very similar to your findings as you stripped your car.

Started to work on the rust hole. First thing is a new fender lip. Giving my shrinker and stretcher a workout.

Hi Keegan,
Nice piece of welding kit you bought yourself there. Now you will be able to do some spot welding on your flanges instead of having to tack with your MIG set on the outer edges. Keep up the good work on your wing (sorry fender) repairs. It's taking shape nicely. Regards Terry

Thanks, i picked up the shrinker/stretcher combo from Harbor Freight really cheap a while ago and they do a good enough for the hack jobs I perform. Quote: Nice piece of welding kit you bought yourself there I got that welder up and running with a new Diode. It was a great welder, but I had an opportunity to sell it shortly after fixing it, so I choose to get some cash in my pocket. I already have another tig welder (Miller Dynasty 200DX) that suits my needs. I bought the LTEC because I was pretty sure that I could fix it, and I ended up keeping a few items that came with it also.
