Should the engine color for 1949 model be green or gray? I thought it was green.

Maybe you will find the answer here..
packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/newbb ... orum=2&post_id=10432#forumpost10432 It appears that the engine color was gray beginning in 1948 and on except for the 356" engine found only on the Custom models which remained green.

No deduction should be taken for a gray engine in 1948 as that's what both PAC and PI have agreed on in their respective standards. Yet there is plenty of evidence that some of the very early 22nd series Custom Eights, specifically those built concurrent with the 21st series and perhaps later, were green. Looking further at the earlies 22nd series cars, it appears that the 288 and 327 were gray from the get-go. Perhaps Robert Neal's forthcoming book on the 48-50 Packards will have some new light to shed on this ever-controversial topic.
