Hi,

Does anyone know who might have tie rod ends for a 733? I've checked a few of the usual suppliers but no luck.

Thanks
Gene

Gene, I assume it's damaged? They are adjustable for wear.
PS - do you have a MOOG part # for the ones you need?

Hi Gene: What body type 7-33 do you own? I have friends who may be able to help with parts. Jim Pearsall

Hi,

Their not damaged as far as I know only worn.

I can't find any info or part number in the 2 manuals I have for the tie rod end. How are they adjusted for wear?

Thanks
Gene

Though they may not all be absolutely identical (I haven't checked the parts numbers) they were essentially the same from at least the 5th series thru the 14th series on senior cars. I've never actually had the need to disassemble and adjust, but assuming the ball isn't worn badly, the half-cups are adjustable for wear - I'd think the method would become apparent on taking one apart. Let us know what you find. There's a couple of decent cross-sectional diagrams in the 33-34 parts book, and no doubt in the others as well.

Hi there..I'm about to change the left cv axle and would like to change both tie rods. What is the difference in changing (difficulty, mechanical, etc) between the "tie rod end" vs tie rod assembly"?Any inputs? Thanks in advance.

No aftermarket company made tie rod ends for these early Packards. It is highly unusual to need new ends, try adjusting as others have suggested. To change one tie rod end you remove it form the steering arm and tie rod. Removing the tie rod assembly you remove both ends with the tie rod. Very simple.

There are no CV shafts or joints on old cars except for the front wheel drive Cord. There is no such item on a rear wheel drive car
