Besides for part numbers, is there any real difference between 1935-1937-1939 rear fenders. Are all the fenders the same up and down the body style lines???

yes, significant differences. Some you can tell by measurement and knowledge, some are so slightly different you have to know to know. General or Specific question?

What would it take to modify a sedan fender to fit a convertible coupe? Would it be less costly then hiring Fay Butler to build brand new ones?

I have total respect for Fay, and he may end up doing them, but for a car that's not worth a half-million dollars, sometimes you have to try and figure a less costly option.

What is the fender you are seeking? I've got a pretty good info/sources for many fenders, as you do....big body seniors are another story...
