Are the tuft buttons on your upholstery covered with leather?? OR do they show any signs of having any plastic or other modern materials in their construction???? How do the tuft buttons compare in colour and looks to the rest of the leather????

They're covered in exactly the same leather as the rest. All metal construction but clearly leather applied by a machine. I suspect 1970's vintage, same as the re-trim.
