I bought this water pump off Ebay; listed as a 51-54 pump. Got it yesterday - it's not. However, it does look like the one on my 39 120. Can anyone identify it as to year/series? It is about 8" across and has a single inlet on the back.

If I have to I can pull the pump on the 39 to compare it, but I would prefer not to. If this will work on my 39, I'll keep it for a spare. It will cost me more to ship it back than I paid for it. thanks

Looks like a 1938-40 junior series pump. I would need to see a horizontal view of the hub to tell for sure.

If you remove the hub from your 39 and install on this at same hub height from back of pump it is identical. When pressing hub on remove back plate and support end of shaft

All 38-50 pumps have the same body casting (except 38-9 su 8 and v12). Only difference is the hub and hub height. We manufacture all of them brand new.

Thanks Fred. I'll stick this one on the shelf and wait until the 39 120 pump fails (which it never will now that I have a spare....)Paid $35 for it on Ebay, so I guess it was worth the gamble.
