I put a set of Diamondbacks made by Cooper 225 x75 they were very close to the bias 7.60 BF Goodrich that were on before size was so close I feel it was non issue the tracking on bad pavement is worth the change. Got them thru Packard and were cheaper than if I bought them direct from Diamond back. Can't remember who but Randy will remember as he told me who to contact. They were made in USA another reason for me to buy.

225 x 75 R15 appear to be the winner.

The Diamond Back radials I have on my Packards only have the outside of the tire refinished to eliminate any markings so the white wall can be attached. The inside of the tire is not altered. It is easy to see all the tire manufacturer information on that side.

Looks like they will be Diamondback 225 x 75 R15 - I'll talk to the diamond back rep to figure out which line.

I put a set of Diamondback radials on my Series 23 last year after lots of research. Diamondback offers a slightly taller profile tire (I think it is series 78) that duplicates both the diameter and the width of the original tires. Also the tread pattern looks vintage correct. I chose these because of the original looks and the proper diameter. I get slightly less rpm on the freeway with the proper diameter tires rather than 75 series tires. The disadvantage of the taller tire is the stiffness. Since these are made using a truck tire the construction is stiffer and thus the ride is slightly harder than a lower profile passenger tire. That feels OK to me and I love the rest of the advantages.

The problem with lower profile tires is the width is too large using correct diameter tires. If you use tires with a width that clears the body, the diameter is less compared to original.

I have noticed my speedo slightly optimistic at the top end now, but i chocked it up to being old or innacurate from the factory. The difference is likely just the tire height when switching to radials.

I ordered the tires from Diamond Back. They advised that the 225 75 15's are the closest replacement to the original 7.6 X 15 (they should be very close) and the only 225 75 15's they sell with a 3" whitewall is the tire made by Coooper - so that was the choice. Once I get them on the car I'll report back... I am going to strip and repaint the wheels before having them mounted, so it may be a little while.
