Hank...I got therm from Max Merritt and they look brand new (fresh rubber, no marks on the metal, etc.). I'd hope they'll work ok.
Pv8...I measured the thickness of the mount, including rubber and both pieces of metal at 1 13/32" - 1 7/16". I had the car up on a lift at the Air Force Academy's hobby shop, and couldn't see any clear way to access all of the bolts from any one angle, top or bottom. That's why I am asking for your help.

I'm recalling from memmory of about 2 years ago:
The FRONT MOST motor mount bolts are accesible by standing over the grill of the car (i ran out and looked to refressh memmory). I distinctly remeber removing and installing the front most bolts (block and frame) that way. The other bolts more toward rear of car were done from underneath the car and working rearward of the mounts. The bolts are just miserable to get to that's all. I have a wide variety of various types and styles of wrenches and u-joint sockets. If u are working with an ordinary standard wrench and socket set then it mite be much more difficult. THere are various short double boxed wrenches and curved manifold/starter wrenches and wrenches with variuos angles and so many different kind i can't name them all. U'll get the bolts removed. Just have to tuff it out, that's all. Often i use a 20" long 3/8 drive extension, ujoint socket and ratchet. Sometimes have to break it loose with wrench. ps. thanks for the measurment. NOTE: Sometimes a long (20") or more extension with ratchet and a u-joint socket will access a difficult bolt easier than a short extension. Also, sometimes acces is available by going up between crossmember and tie rods by shifting wheels left or rite or center. Just have to try different things. Quite often it it is done by 'feel' until the socket or wrench sets down over the head of bolt or nut.

Thank you PV8 and all for your guidance. I'll start at it in the morning at the hobby shop. It sounds like it'll be on a lift, going up and down many times. I'll keep you informed on my progress.
PV8...why did you need the measurement? ps - Happy Holidays to all here on PackardInfo!

Measure the OLD mounts after they are removed and compare to the NEW mounts. It's just a curiosity analysis concept here to try to determine how much higher the engine mite set with the new mounts. (OLD MOUNTS may have compressed over the years).
Accessing the mount bolts: There is a commonly available (craftsmen et-al.) wrench available that is 12 pt. boxed on both ends. e.g.: about 5" long for a 1/2 x 9/16. It's short. There is a real long one too at about 10 or 11" long. I don;t remeber what combination of wrenches i used on th e56 Packard but the two wrenches named above are most useful in difficult areas. Especialy the short one. Pretty sure i used a 20" or longer 3/8 drive extension, u-joint socket and ratchet on a few of them. Keep us posted.
