hi guys just a short question :- Camshaft end play can you tell me how to check this on my 1939, 120 8 cyl sedan.
(need to khow how one go's about checking it, as this is my first time)thanx.

Dear Bill:

.0025 to .006 should work

Measured with a dial indicator placed on the sprocket.

Pull the gear to contact, zero the dial, then push on camshaft center to determine end play.

Adjustment is a problem because new parts are not available, and be wary of anybody who says they know enough about metallurgy to make one. That is if they can even say the word.

On the other hand take them seriously because in today's trash culture being full of baloney seems to be the qualification most sought after.

Amen Tim Cole. And that is exactly why we need to be in constant search of current production parts readily available at any auto parts chain. Even if such parts require machining or other mods/adapters etc.
