Yeah, that makes sense about the toggle ending up in catastrophe.... Just like having an electric fan on a toggle, but worse... Hahahaha

When the car was running before i just drove it as you say with the cable out like a normal 3spd. After driving a VW bug as my only car since the Packard broke down I've learned how to deal with going 55-60 on the highway, though... Hahahahahaha!! I'll report back layer in the week after I get the rest of the car buttoned up.

Thanks again for all the help everybody! I'm so glad this place exists!!!

When I installed an R11 OD tranny in mt 38 I used a toggle switch system - really not a big deal. I rarely have to kick the car out of OD but when I do it's a simple matter to hit my on-off-momentry toggle under the dash. As for reverse my tranny has a tab on the shift fork that pushes a plunger that disengages the OD system so no harm can be done. The only thing that I don't care for is that I'm always in free wheeling (unless I pull out the cable) but that is the nature of the beast.
