Kev,
Have fun in Motor City. Hope the 'big deal' goes as smooooooth as a Packard!
Will you get to see the Proving Grounds? I've never been there. YET!

Here is my visit to "Packard-Mecca" picture. Hard to see it this picture, but I am wearing my PackardInfo.com t-shirt! The plant is in pretty sad condition, and this was really the best photo spot for the entire place. They have most of the main building boarded up, and since it was after 5pm, I didn't want to wander around too long in the neighborhood. My co-workers were already given me that "Where the Hell are you taking us look".

You better hurry, see the concrete steps under Kevins feet? That is the good part of the plant. I took my Packard down there about 10 months ago and got the picture in the same spot. I was glad to get the photo while I could. The neighbothood is real nice also.

yeah, I have seen a video of some people running around inside the buildings. It was an interesting video in 5 parts on youtube. They even got into the lobby, right behind the door that Kevin is standing in front of. The place is really run down badly. It was fun to watch the video of the kids walking the plant.

Kev

Now I believe you. You actually were in Detroit!
I grew up in East St. Louis. They hardly have buildings where my neighborhood was 50+ years ago.

It has got to be heartbreaking to see the change of what was such a prestigious address and place.
Maybe we still preserve some of the Packard Glory in our separate garages and projects all over the country/world.

Nobody could pose that background elsewhere. Good Shot, Kev.

John,

Thanks for coming out and sharing a few beers with me. It was nice to hear both the Packard Plant history from you as a local and also your other Packard related stories.
