Very sketchy information in this listing. Is it possible this is a '46-'47 instead? And if a 1942, would it have a 6?

Yes. Packard offered a six-cylinder Clipper in 1942. I don't think there is anything you can see from the photos posted that would indicate weather it's a 1942 vs 1946-47.

According to the people offering it for sale, it is a model 1585. That makes it a 1942 Special Club Sedan. There are actually 3 Packards for sale but they are in process of making a deal to sell all 3 of them to the same person. If the auction go off in the next hour or so then it has been sold according to the man I talked to.

I'd guess 42 because of the ashtray cutout location on top of dash.

Yeah, I was looking at the 160 7 passenger as a possible parts car for my 180 Limo but the car has been exposed to the elements for an awfully long time, the starting bid is (in my opinion) high, and many of the more valuable parts are already gone. Quote:
I was going to comment that there was no way of telling by the photos but West beat me to it. I was not aware of the ashtray location difference before. I love this site. Learn something new every day.

In regaards to how rare it is, that one makes 5 that I know of. I was interested in buying this one myself but the seller had already made a package deal. I have a 1585 which is the 1942 Clipper Special Club Sedan. As far as I know, there is mine, one in Florida, one in South Africa, one in Kansas and the one in the add. There may be more but none that I have gotten wind of.

Yes, in fact, these are only body #1585. Last year if I remember correctly, there was a 42 2 door clipper 6 that was on ebay but that was a different body number and I believe the guy referred to it as a "business coupe"
