Is that a free wheeling unit in back of the transmission of the Pierce Arrow?

1931-32 were banner years for free-wheeling, most everyone adopted it and just as quickly abandoned it as road accidents quickly increased. It reappeared a few years later as a feature of overdrive. Pierce-Arrow had it in 1931, Packard I believe(?) waited until 1932 and offered it alone and in combination with the automatic clutch (early forerunner of Electromatic).

The Ebay auction was ended early by the seller.
I wonder if somebody swooped in with Cash? My thoughts were if it didn't get any serious bids, and if it were cheap enough it would be buying and just arrive with a toolbox and a sawzall and unbolt/cut off anything salvageable and scrap the rest.
