If you haven't already done it, I'd recommend going thru the PAC and PI directories and hopefully finding a nice restored (or better yet, unmolested original) within driving distance. Nothing beats seeing it first-hand, plus having established contact with an owner you can call whenever the inevitable questions come up. But remember, many restored cars, even high point ones, can have incorrect details.

Tops were Haartz cloth, still available from several sources.

G'day Cedar,

aboard Packardinfo. Will be interesting to follow the progress of your '36 restoration, plenty of pic's along the way would be great.

And don't forget, can you please add your '36 Super Eight Convertible to the Owner's Registry together with a pic, any known history and how you acquired it?

G'day Cedar,

Saw your '36 pic's, it sure looks like a good basis for your restoration.

But one thing to keep things tied together, as you've already got a thread going on the '36 in the Project Blogs Forum, could you continue to post in the original thread titled "Restoring 1936 Super Eight Convertable"?
See link -packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=1957&forum=10

If you're agreeable, maybe Kev can merge or move this thread to the other one?

Cedar,

Looked at your recent pic's of the '36 in Packard Pictures and see one where you've made a particular request: "LOOKING FOR PICTURES OF THIS AREA, OR INFORMATION, ON WHAT GOES IN THIS AREA, WOOD, OR METAL BRACE.....THANKS CEDAR". Just a suggestion, but it may be give wider exposure to make your request here or in the Pre-War Forum.

Can't help with the body questions unless you advise which 36 Super Eight convertible you're working on, a convertible coupe (#959), a convertible victoria (#947), or perhaps a convertible sedan (#983) or one of the phaetons (#941 and #951) as the bodies are all quite different. If it's a convertible victoria, there is one local here (a Twelve) under restoration just about ready for the body drop and I could get pictures if you tell me exactly what details you want. The Sup8 and Twelve bodies, style for style, are pretty much the same though the chassis have their differences.
