Glenn,

Looks like a good basis to start with - appears to pretty well be all there. Good luck with the project.

Thanks for the encouragement. It does seem to be all there, chrome and all and very straight with only minor damage to a taillight. I found this car quite by accident and wasn't even looking, but a friend who just restored a 49 came acrossed it and new that 51 was the year I always wanted. I came home from the hospital in 1966 in a 51 Packard and my father and mother always said it was their most favorite car they have ever had. This is as much for them as me, but I havent told them yet about it. I want to suprise them.

Glenn,

An encouraging start. Now that you can stop her, you're ready for when you get her started and running!

Glenn,

Only about 60 here(Sydney Australia) at the moment, 12:55pm Tuesday afternoon. While I was in Idaho recently it was 104, but because it was a dry heat didn't seem too bad at the time. I was there to complete the purchase of the '41 Coupe I bought on eBay (A better car than I thought). Hopefully it should be on a ship to Australia at the end of this week.

Glenn,
In comparison to the US there are comparatively fewer Packards. They come up for sale infrequently and most are owned by collectors so unless someone dies are not usually available. This is also because Australia sourced many cars from Britain and Europe as well as from the US with only minor self-manufacturing capacity before WW2. Also explains why I looked to the US to find the '41 I bought, so I'm helping to redress the balance.

Sounds great. I bet that it will surely turn heads over there then. Even when I was hauling mine home on a trailer it attracted a crowd and where it sits now it has had many visitors my mechanic said. Even here you don't see very many of them. Southwest Missouri seems to be a Chevy, Ford place, because even my 68 Chrysler is not a common car here.
