Okay, with a 1946 4 dr sedan with the 245 ci six in it. If I installed overdrive could I use the original differential or would it make it to underpowered. I see the conventional 3 spd uses a 4.30 ratio and the overdrive equipped cars used a 4.55 ratio.

You will have 4.3/4.55=.95 , or 95% of the torque you would have with the OD specified axle. Find something else to worry about.

No issues with the brakes, just need to replace/rebuild the wheel cylinders and master cylinder. Run new lines and flex hoses.
I was just looking to see if anyone had a source for aftermarket wheel and master cylinders.
