All my cars have power steering but the tube still stands out at an angle as it shows on the first car (which also has the wrong breather).

Don, as Ross says, 1952-53-54 with power steering used a different oil filler tube, check the parts list (5.100).

Yes, I know but it still should not go toward the engine. I've had many 1952-1954 Packards both with power steering and without and none had the filler at that odd angle with the vent cap nearly touching the head.

My '54 Patrician had the acutely angled filler tube as pictured. Yes, the breather cap was quite close to the cylinder head. I suspect it was correct, I purchased the car in the mid-1960s with low mileage.

https://indianapolis.craigslist.org/cto/d/goldsmith-1947-packard-custom-super/6969620236.html

1947 Custom Super Club sedan, a CCCA recognized Classic, 127" wheelbase (2106 chassis), needs a total restoration, has good floors and floor sill supports, trunk floor is rusted, it is complete, no trades. 356 cid straight eight 165hp engine with nine-main bearings, not running, engine is free and turns over with starter but needs a valve job. Has correct body and VIN tags, fore and aft style headliner, known and listed in Packard Registries, only an estimated ten Custom Super Club Sedans have survived.
Last registered in 1973 this vehicle has been kept inside ever since ( 45 years ), offered "as is", "where is".

Customs came with distinctive interior trims and no external identifiers, such as door script. Special carpeting was featured, along with upholstery in rich broadcloth and leather combinations. Imitation wood paneling was used on the interior of Custom models.

Maybe you can't pay out of pocket cash for a highly desirable CCCA Classic restored 47 Custom Super Club sedan but could make up for it by doing your own work, called sweat equity, to suit your own timing and standards. Clear Indiana title in my name..for the serious, advanced collector.

Will work with qualified buyer on payments if required.
