As for me, I couldn't give a flying crap about a judges opinion on any of my cars.

That they are still in existence in anything resembling original is good enough for me.

I'm in it to keep them alive. If they're not exactly factory original, that comes with life.

I'm not factory original either; and neither are you.

Life and parking lots and wear and tear and moving violations have all left their marks.



Not all marks need to be erased. They are their own story.


That said, Hell will freeze over before I put a SBC in any of my cars.

Like this '24 136 1st Series Eight, patina etal, in Australia. Certainly bears witness to having the marks of a lifetime on it. A former owner was going to use the car "back in the day" to try and break the trans-continental speed record but it was never used for that purpose. The most recent owner, now deceased, would pick up US Packard visitors from Sydney aiport in it, driving through peak hour traffic to do so.
