My electrical is deteriorated and disintegrating, I have to replace the electrical regardless if I keep 6v or go to 12v.

My goal is to make this driver, due to my work I have to be connected with at least a cell phone and driving while holding a cell phone to my ear is illegal so I'll need a stereo with blue tooth connectivity and the ability to charge the phone, I also see an air conditioner somewhere in the future.

The current state of the 6v wiring, my need for cellphone and desire for AC are the drivers for a 12v conversion

Not much progress - these rear drums are giving me a run for my money to remove them.

Speaking of money, I am burning throughly my leasure car project fund a little quicker than planned. Which means I can slow my pace and the goal
I had set for having this car back on the road or sell some parts. Even though I hadn't planned to selling parts is the route I think I'm going.

I would like to replace the clock in my instrument cluster with one from a 55 or 56 being that they're 12 V - does anybody know if they will fit?


I've also been trying to mount the oil bath air filter, does the oil filled portion tilt downward when mounted? I'm pretty sure the mountain I have is correct but the positioning of it just doesn't feel right

I'm hundreds of miles away from my Packards so going by memory but I believe that the backet goes down and attaches to a bolt on the side of the head.

Check out this thread for some views of the bracket mounted to the filter and another link in one of the posts with photos of an actual bracket. The bracket has different shapes and bends depending on year, length, type of carb and style of air cleaner. The 55-6 clocks will not easily mount in the clock space of the 51-3 cluster. The later clocks are both self housed and smaller in diameter than the face of the 51 clock and the setting stem is in a different spot. In those later years they are not a part of the instrument cluster but fit in a separate hole in the dash so mounting method is different.

Bummer about the clocks, looks like I have some runtz are in my future!

You could probably have your original clock reworked to a quartz movement or possibly the innards of one of the later 12v clocks could be made to fit the earlier case, or even just the 12v winder coil put in.

Don I'm wondering if simply adding s runtz would work
