Never judge a rusty hubcap by its lack of shine.

Very nice Kev! What did you use on them to get that shine? (I see a jar, is it Mothers polish?)

The Flackmaster pulled the above hubcaps and this map switch and socket out of a bin of rusty water.

I soaked the switch and socket in Evapo-rust for a few hours. The. I took it apart and cleaned the contacts.

Before the switch was pretty rust welded in place and wouldn't move. Now it works just fine.

Also, notice the difference in the map light socket and the regular dash light socket. This is to clear the wiper motor.

If you've never had the misfortune of having to remove a rust welded convertible top p ivot pin, it is not fun. I had to drill the center of that pin put to depth of 2" and 1/4" wide before I could break it lose. It was rusted on the shoulder itself, not on the threaded portion.

Couple other items today... I had found a convertible top boot while on this past week's part hunt. It needs to be cleaned up a bit.

Also, I went and bought some kiln dried 8/4 ash.

I need to reproduce the two wood b-pillar posts that are part of the convertible top assemble. These parts are not simple to make. They have multiple angles and cut outs and no square sides.

Kev, to remove stains from the top boot, try this stuff. It did a great job of removing tobacco smoke stains from the interior of the 55 Clipper.
