Been a very long while since posting here. Back in Feburaury I fabed up a reciver hitch and slide in slug as well as wired for flat four connection and towed my 1940 Aluminum Tralier Corporation teardrop to a show in historic phoenix. People On the interstate were very surprised to see such a site motoring on a modern interstate at 75. 3.90:1 in high gear overdrive is effortless even towing the trailer. What a ride 160hp must have been in 1940!

NICE!!
Yup, 160 horsepower in 1940 meant that you had the most powerful production car built that year.

Was the luggage rack removed because it wouldn't fold down completely with the trailer hitch set-up?

Hi West, no the luggage rack clears I'm just dragging my feet fitting everything up and finishing that project. I've been dividing my attention between various antique car and motorcycle projects lately.

I have been following your project and the photos have been a big help to me. I am restoring a 41 packard coupe for over a year now and have run into a problem you might be able to help me with. When I had the engine off the chassis but the tranny in place I attached the shifting rods to the tranny and column shift forks, everything went well. Now I have installed the engine and the rods won' t fit back. I can't seem to figure out whether the rods route through or outside the bracket between the engine and frame which holds the clutch peddle assembly. Any photos you could send would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much, I enjoy your project and the explanations

Thanks again
