1953 Mayfairs were special and this one is no exception. While it is in obvious rough shape, I see that it has Packard wire wheels and a factory continental kit. I would guess that it has the top straight 8 engine of that year and Ultramatic as well. You also don't see too many with the visor. I think it could be a nice car with some work, but $7,000 in this shape may be a bit high. This car would look great in your garage!

You can make a lot of really neat things from the parts left over after you rebuild your engine ...

The 53 has a Caribbean hood, 52 bird, 54 headlight trim, the roof quarter emblem looks like it's from a 54, and the continental spare looks like it's made with bumper ends. It also is a three tone painted car.

Hi

Interesting Mayfair, if it could be bought for a better price, it would be a worthwhile project. I like the updating and 'customizing' to give it a more upscale look.

Here's a better look at this '48 lwb sedan:
http://providence.craigslist.org/cto/4778070008.html

Now on eBay, though cleaned up somewhat:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Packard-Super-8-Four-Door-Long-Wheel-Base-Sedan-1949-packard-super-8-long-wheel-base-sedan-limousine-/251780161127?forcerrptr=true&hash=item3a9f445e67&item=251780161127&pt=US_Cars_Trucks

Looks like it might be a decent solid example with a very nice rear compartment interior, though front seat needs re-upholstery. If you have a deep garage and many friends to transport for an evening out, here's your Packard.

Proud 1953 Clipper Deluxe owner. Thinking about my next Packard, want a Clipper Deluxe Eight, manual shift with overdrive.
