Need to find out what color and type of paint was used on a 39 1700 deluxe heater. Also where I might find the paint or how to create the finish. Thanks!!!

Jim, the one in my 39 was a brown crinkle finish. I went to Home Depot and bought a satin finish wrinkle paint and sprayed it. Probably not the exact shade, but it blended well with the original dash colors.

As I recall, it's very close to the color and texture used on Kennedy tool boxes, which is more durable than the hardware store variety. A Google search should bring up a source for you either in your area or to buy online.

Don, that's an excellent comparison for the color.

All,thanks for the replies. I've looked for the elusive wrinkle paint but can't find it. I've found satin, flat, crackle, stone, hammered and currently have a rough texture dark brown but the color, if my memory serves me, that you guys are describing was textured with a slight sheen. What I have appears to be flat. Do you have any other suggestions where I might find this paint?

Can't say as I've ever taken notice of a Kennedy tool box finish but if it is as close as suggested then Amazon and several others carry the brown wrinkle paint for those boxes.https://www.amazon.com/KENNEDY-80860-BROWN-TOUCH-UP-PAINT/dp/B00C3ITSNM

If the brown wrinkle you have is the right color I wonder if a light coat of clear over the brown would give it the sheen you want or if the extra coat would take away the wrinkle effect.

I went back to Home Depot to look at the paint I used on my 39 heater. It was "Rust-Oleum Universal Forged Hammered, Paint and Primer in One" rather than the crinkle finish. The inventory number is 1000-000-895, cost $7.76 per can. It is available in several different browns. It is has a multi flake sheen to it and the heater did look good.

Despite the website statement, there were quite a few cans in lots of colors on the shelf at my local Home Depot.
