I've used with complete satisfaction the Exide Classic Grp 60/64. About 2 inches shorter in length than the Group 60, otherwise comparable.

I am rather confidant that is NO battery that fits these cars worth a crap. If Fred can't find one, well.....!
Most are too wide and the ones with good length & width are all almost 9 inches high, which would cause a good deal of excitement when the battery terminals hit the hood. This is also after many hours of searching.
It can be a real challenge to love this car.
The Exide 56-60 bears looking at but @ 8.4 inches high, perhaps I will adhere a rubber pad to the hood above the battery.

Exide 60/64 noted above has adequate hood clearance. Best replacement other than the boutique batteries that I'm aware of. Correct width.

Hello
I ended up buying a " Deka" battery

they are made in USA

I bought the "Deka" No. 664MF
620 CCA
11.5 x 6 3\8 x 8"
Weight 41.5000 Lb

Here in Cal the cost was $101.xx

$15 core return

I bought it at a Deka warehouse in Ontario Cal

I had called a company called Battery plus bulbs
who carry Duracell
they would not order me a group 60 battery, even though there
web page not only showed one but also priced it..
BTW Deka make some of the Duracell line of car batteries.
So you can guess that I will not be shopping at or recommending
"Batteries plus" to anyone.

Now an another subject can anyone give me a "place" to buy intake
manifold gasket for the 374.
And does anyone have specific info on removing the tail light housing
from the car? Even for Packard I would think it stupid to have to
move the rear bumper to get the housing out.

Also need lead on getting the small front fender script
(the four hundred)
best
Dave

Here is an old thread where some ideas are given. Apparently it can be done if the stars align but not the easiest job.http://packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=17976&forum=3&post_id=178270&

There are some current ebay listingshttp://www.ebay.com/itm/1955-1956-Packard-400-Script-Emblem-the-four-hundred-/112407396193?hash=item1a2c00bf61:g:GNQAAOSw03lY8USu&vxp=mtr
Gerry at Packards Southwest in San Diego (packardusa) also has a few of the pieces listed on ebay individually.
Mike Dulinski in Minnesota has many 55-6 Parts cars and may have the items.

Manifold gaskets: There are a number of Packard specific parts vendors around the country including Kanter.com who can supply almost all of your Packard needs.

It's funny but when I did a google search, not one specific
vendo came up. I know they are out there, but I hate pulling teeth
from alligator

On the subject of Rochester 4GC gasket set,
I checked at least 6 vendors, Mikes, Chicago Carb, SD in Fl,
Echlin (NAPA) Carburetor Factory etc:
Prices from $35 to 70.
Chicago and Daytona parts, use the same part number!
Mikes I think from there picture is the most complete.
They got a little upset when I said their kit was expensive, hahaha
It's just the penny pincher in me...
