Hey All back at the Packard, I have recieved a original Packard Oil filter housing from a very nice member here. I am wondering what color it should be painted for a 41 110, green or black?

Also in searching the site people mention getting a Judging and Standards book from Packard International..... But when I go to the site to purchase this it isnt there?? Is there another place to get this??.

From these poor photos from the 41 fact book and a dealer accessor display shown in a Service Letter I am thinking the factory filters were black. I know some of the aftermarkets were red but don't think Packard went that flashy on the bread and butter cars.

Thanks HH56 that picture answers my next question as well. I was wondering on the routing of the lines......... The picture of the store front shows a coiled line but the other picture it showsthe routing (if correct) and all straight lines?

Any suggestions on the standards book?

The tubing shape is engine specific so can vary by the kit number. I think the coiled might have been used on the six or maybe was one of the many changes to filter plumbing done prewar. There were several changes due to flow and lifter starving issues or vibration cracking the lines. Postwar it was fairly well settled and consistent.

PI does list some judging information on their website.http://packardsinternational.com/judging_rules.html At the bottom of that page there is mention of the judging guide being available. You might reach out via email or the phone number given on their contact us page and see if you can order it.

I was told it was "satin black" - at a judging meet. For what it's worth.

I'll be at Hershey next week, and will no doubt visit the PI tent. I'll ask about the book for you. It is an excellent thing for all clubs to do.
