Hoping there is someone who will rescue this '49 wagon. It's rough and needs a lot of TLC.

The bottom of the car must have been sitting right on the ground judging by the rust through in the gas tank. I can't see any place that can be used as a starting point (maybe the glass). does anybody feel that a complete restoration will cost less than what the car is worth?

My own view, unless you've got deep pockets and/or have an emotional connection to this car such that restoration expenses are irrelevant, I see it as just a poor parts car.

Well, the leftover of both wings of the rear door is in the car but I second what was said, especially related to the necessary emotional connection.

At first look, the tin seems to be in fairly good shape. If a guy had a good driver grade car to use as a donor, this would sure knock down the cost.

I've always wanted to swap the body of a Station Sedan onto the frame and front clip of a 22nd/23rd Series Custom or 23rd Series Super Deluxe. I think the result of the extra 7 inches and egg crate grill would look really nice. I agree with 'Owen_Dyneto' that the subject Station Sedan is at best a parts car. Here's a photoshopped version of what I'd like to see for real.

Auction prices for these special Packards vary significantly. Here's an example of a no reserve auction in Houston, on a day when there were few Packard lovers present.

https://www.mecum.com/lots/HA0419-372696/1950-packard-woody-wagon/

Price includes the boat.

Waiting for a well priced completed car will likely occur before you could complete the restoration, and with a purchase price where you will know the final cost when you take it home.

Back to Owen's comment, better be some emotional attachment.

Disappointing but true.

JD, what an outstanding car that would have been. Packard made such a huge error with the Station Sedan and didn't recognize it until it was too late. It was priced competitively with Buick's Roadmaster Estate Wagon so at a minimum it should have been on the Super Eight chassis.
