The museum is near Lyon, so it is probably 5699-1228. I'll try to get more info once on site.

The car was probably painted that scheme a long time ago, as there is a Fran?ois Truffaut film (1958) where a '56 Caribbean can be seen. I doubt there were two of those convertibles in uncommon paint scheme back in the day. The upper paint is definitely not white on that one.

Wow! Great information and photo of the film opener. Here is another one for "Packards In Film" fans and listing.

Yes, agree the Caribbean in this film sequence certainly does not appear to be the original factory color scheme of MTV as indicated in the original records. The "M" would have been Dover White on top, which this car obviously is not.

Again, if you get to see this Caribbean in the museum, I for one would love to see photos.

Thank you very much!

Found that picture a while ago. Wondering whether this wouldn't be the same photographed at the Arc de Triomphe, above.

Given the flag under the Arc de Triomphe, the emptied Champs Elys?es, in addition to the good wheather and the incredible amount of black official cars and officials, I'm wondering whether the picture has been taken on a July 14th. Photo is from 1960.

Picture Roger Viollet.

Fred, I also have a 1954 Packard Cavalier from Barbezat. It was purchased by Her Royal Highness Princess Aspasia Manos of Greece. I'm the third owner and the car has never been restored. I'm wondering if you can help me. I have an amazing amount of paperwork and documentation of the car including import information. The last piece I'm trying to get is a photo copy of the Barbezat Ledger for my car. Jerome Hardy has been helping me becuase I don't speak French.I know it exists and is suppose to be in the hands of Olivier de l'Orgeril, but that is as far as I have gotten. Do you know Olivier and can you help me get that copy? The car is number 5472-4424. Any help would be appreciated.

'55 400. Needs aesthetic parts put back on, and electrical system sorted.
'55 Clipper Deluxe. Engine is stuck-ish.

Eeeek! You're hurting my eyes! Yes, seen the photo before. The interior has been re-done at least a few times (it once had Mercedes-Benz seats) and...OMG!

That poor Caribbean. Somebody, somewhere (and it wasn't Packard) sat down and said... "Hey! I gotta cool idea. Don't tell anybody because they may wanna copy it! Let's repaint this car into silver-gray, pink and charcoal on the bottom! THEN... now get this...THEN... let's yank the interior and stuff in seats from some other car... and upholster the whole shebang in... BROWN! Makes sense, huh? Whadaya think?"

Ghastly.
