Hello all!

I am restoring a 1922 Single Six 133 Touring and have some questions.

1) I need some information on the front wheel bearings. The car has wooden wheels and the Packard parts book shows the front inboard bearing as a gilliam part number 127969 and an outboard bearing as part number 97056. Is there any new part number to use for the wheel bearings? Could someone show me a picture or tell me a place to buy both wheel bearings?

2) I need some information on the spark plugs. The number of the Motor Fuelizer spark plug is 129832. It had a Champion C-16C in it which looks like it is now a W16Y or W16Y014, Champion also shows a 561. I don't know the difference between them. Do you know if they used the fuelizer plug like a glow plug to heat the air before it goes into the intake manifold? (I did do some reading on here and some people are saying to not use this spark plug in the motor fuelizer because of the new gasoline does not need it? Can someone tell me if I need this plug or not!?)

3) I also need information on the motor spark plugs.Motor spark plug number 129833. The motor did not have any plugs in it. What plugs should be used?

4) my steering wheel is in bad shape. The wood around the wheel is in pieces. Does anyone know who might rebuild them?

5) Also do you have any information on the clutch? It looks clean but it may have to be rebuilt.

6) The fuelizer is cracked where it mounts to the intake manifold. Would there be any parts available for the fuelizer? Or does anyone have a fuelizer?

7) Does anyone have any pictures of how the engine and transmission mount?

The 97056 wheel bearing is a Bower or Timken 2620 cup and 2687 cone, used for 8 cylinder Packard through the 30's and commercial chassis into the 50's

By the mid to late 1920s gasoline had been sufficiently improved that devices like the fuelizer no longer provided any benefit and in fact could be detrimental to performance. Folks I know who have cars with fuelizers just restore them cosmetically and leave them intact but nonfunctional mostly as a conversation piece. Parts are not particularly easy to locate.

Spark plugs suitable for your car are readily available from auto supply stores, I don't have a brand and number in front of me at the moment - someone will come along with it or try the Autolite website for spark plug recommendations.

One of the best professional shops for vintage clutch work is Fort Wayne Clutch.

2) The spark plug on the fuelizer is not necessary and would likely cause vaporization issues in hot weather, it was needed when fuel was much less volatile. I have left the old one in my 126 with a dummy lead for appearance only. The fuelizer was discontinued shortly after the First Series cars.
3) When I rebuilt my 126 many years ago I could not find new spark plugs so I used modem plugs with an adapter to fit the larger threads. I believe the correct plugs are now available. The Autolite parts finder on line list the plugs as 3076
5) I have stripped many clutches for this model and always found them to be in good condition except for the large splined hub that fits to the transmission. The splines have always had indentations that prevent the plates from separating properly. I had my hub splines recut deeper and all new metal plates made to suit.
7) the attached sketch shows the engine mounting.

A copy of the original Packard parts book is very helpful with its illustrations, Merritt has them, they cover the 1922 to 28 models. A service manual is also available and worth having but it's not nearly as useful as the parts book.
