G’day
Hoping someone might be able to help, I have picked up the remains of a 1930 733 ( in pieces!,)

The crankcase number is *291898*

My current issue is the crankshaft that came with the it does not quite fit . Fits in all of main bearings, except #1 . The #1 bearing appears to be ~1/8” too wide ( at the timing gear end) vs the crankshaft journal. Even with the bearing shell out it will no go pass the crankcase web for bearing #1 (refer photo) .

My research of the parts manuals indicates the same crankshaft part # was used for 1930-1936 at least.

Any thoughts on what model the crankshaft is out of , any help would be much appreciated

Cheers Warwick

G'day Warwick(Boweya).
to PackardInfo, good to see another Aussie on Board. Sorry I can't help with you query, hopefully someone will be along soon who can. I'm also passing on a link to your query to a guy here who might be able to advise. In the meantime I invite you to include your '30 733 in the Packard Owner's Registry.

Now, donning my other hat as Secretary of the Packard Automobile Club of Australia If you're not already a member I invite you to join us. Membership information is available in the Website link, if you're interested.

EDIT - How did I know you are an Aussie? Googled Boweya and found it's a town in bushranger country. If I've made an incorrect assumption please let me know.

Thanks for the reply, yes your deductions are correct I’m from North East , Victoria.
The 1930 - 733 is basically , three trailer loads of parts i picked up after Christmas. I’m in the process of piecing the chassis together to see what’s missing and to get it to at least a rolling stage .I also have a 1946 Clipper 8 complete but in need of a lot of work.
Cheers Warwick

To help if anyone has a copy of the 1929 parts list, could you confirm the following
Does the 1929 , 320ci have the following part numbers
190503 : crankshaft and counter weights assembly
176262 : crankshaft #1 bearing assembly
172180 : crankshaft #1 cap

As these parts were common from 1930-1936, I would like to confirm or rule out if there was a change in 1930

Thanks for your time, cheers Warwick

That parts list is available for you to view on this site. Or at least it was, I can't seem to locate it now but others more familiar with this site will help you locate it.
