Thanks to a delivery from Chris, new hood springs have been media blaster, painted black, and installed. I also bought some of that WD-40 Spray Dry Lube (Teflon?), and gave the hinges as quick spray. Between that and the new to me springs, the hood opens and closes effortlessly now. Night and day. I may have to give the door and trunk hinges a good spray as well.

The car continues to look great! I'm secretly jealous of your chrome.

Sorry for the delayed response, I just noticed this for some reason. LOL.

My chrome looks great... in photos... from 10 feet... at certain angles.

But, it's driver at best. I just can't bear to drop 3-4k to rechrome everything that needs to be done. The grill is ok, but is thin Korean war chrome that was once coated in lacquer. The bumpers are really the worse. But for a driver, completely passable.

Hopefully additional progress on the car coming soon!

Your Clipper looks great but I’ve never seen or even heard of Korean War Chrome after 1952. Are you sure that’s what it is or could some previous owner have put on the clear?

My grille came from a 53 Clipper (same P/N as a 54 Clipper) and that car was made in late 1952. So yes, we are both correct! :)

Taking care of some over due things I've wanted to do on the Clipper for awhile, but they have requried me to disassemble some of the car to do them. So as you can see, I took a few parts off the car to gain access to what I wanted to work on.

The task for today was installing a remote fill the master cylinder. Many years ago I bought a kit at Salado, but I was never happy with the reservoir that mounted on the firewall. It was an aluminum casting and was a big blocky and rough looking. It looked like something like a prototype street rod part. But it came with all the fittings and a new cap for master cylinder. So I just put it away. Last year I found a gent who makes these retro looking reservoir for some type of old British cars. It was inexpensive, so I bought it. So with that new part, and the other parts from the other kit, I cobbled together my own. I think it's relatively non-descript on the firewall and blends in. Having the driver's side fender off, make this task much easier. I just had to bend the hardline portion around various obstacles.
