It was repainted already once back in 1989 according to my family and it has weather and cracking since. It's time for a solid quality paint that'll last!

Looks nice, but did they have metallic blue paint back in 1942?

My first Packard, a 1939 Six, was metallic green so yes, metallic goes back farther than one might expect! Early metallic, though, was much finer in the day that what is commonly available today.

There were two metallic blues available as standard factory choices for Packard in 1942, Algiers Blue Metallic and Legion Blue Metallic.

I believe they were also available as a two tone combination. I recall seeing a 42 club sedan in Algiers and Legion Blues - very attractive.

Typically the 2-color versions, at least postwar, have an extra band of stainless running around the back which gave a better separation for two-tone painting. Not sure if prewar did that or not.
