The studs in the timing cover were rotted out from the back and helicoils wouldn't work as there was not enough metal left.

I found some aluminum adapters for shift knobs and drilled and tapped the holes to fit the OD threads of the adapters.

Coated the threads with JB weld and used a drill jig to make sure they were straight.

Problem solved.

I am working on the vibration damper.
It looks like it has springs and friction plates.

Is it serviceable?

Has anyone taken one apart?

I assembled the water pump and fit it to the timing cover. I got the tower clamps from Steiner Tractor. Mounted the front engine mount. Needs some touch up around the gasket and a couple paint scrapes.

Then it needs to go on the block and the little things like the fuel pump, breather, oil cooler etc.

Bill

I have 2 dampers. But have not taken them apart.

If the 36 has that brace. That goes on timing cover .. I'll have to look for it.

Are those. Repo could?.

I have my timing cover water tubes done. But need to see how it fits on block. With 0 rings. I think I might need a thicker one . than what comes with gasket set. But don't want a stress point with that aluminum..

Things look great..
