She would, but Fred prefers that her time in Packards be conducted while they are stationary.

Her last car ride was from the vet.

What I was told: The owner has had a bad stroke. Son is selling. The 1936 All-Weather cabriolet was purchased as a complete car. It is the one that was being restored. Engine done, but not completely put together (heads still off). The other three cars were apparently purchased in "already torn apart" condition. Perhaps as parts cars.

Individual prices on the cars:

1935 convertible sedan - $39k

1936 all weather cab $59k

1937 all weather cab -$35k

1938 club sedan- $8500

Extra parts shelves are separate.

So, $141500.00, presuming that I did my maths correctly. I didn't double check. Plus parts are extra. Truly a Mine Is Gold and Yours Is Lead scenario.

Sorry that the old guy likely sunk a chunk of change into these cars Way Back When, when it might look like he'd recoup his nut and maybe make something. That's a lot of wishing these days.

Were I to drop that amount of shekels (and it's out of the question anyway), I would buy the '34 12 banger club sedan on the Packard club website, if it's still available. It's an older restoration claiming to be well-maintained, which is the kind of thing that is right up my alley, and I like the body style better.

And then I would pray to Mecca five times a day and beseech Allah that nothing ever broke.

I believe that if someone wants all four cars, the extra parts would go with them. If someone comes in and wants just one car, the parts are separate.

Those nada numbers are based on sales over the last decade or so. Today is a totally different ballgame in my humble opinion.

Also what's low retail? A running car or a car all dismantled?

The 1936 LeBaron was listed on ebay back in 2019.
I don't remember the starting price or if there were any bids.

Maybe 25K, but probably 30K in logistics to move them.

And a couple years to inventory/research what's there.

Then come up with a plan to restore/dispose of extras.

I'm 61, and don't have that much desire to take on a project like this, let alone the financials.

Or trying to explain it to my wife.

You married fellows amuse me.

Me? I have a few cats to ask, and they have never told me that I've lost my mind.

For those cars to move they need to bring somebody in who knows what they are doing and assemble the packages. I don't think anybody will want just the shells.

I did that once for a 36 Su8 Victoria. The car was 98% complete and everything was laid out and documented. It was straight and solid. The body fit was good and the wood was solid. It was wonderful to look at. You don't know how good those convertibles were put together until you see one like that. But it needed everything. The idiots undid everything I did and I later saw just the "bones" for sale. If nobody would buy that car with all the parts then I doubt anybody will go for those cars above.

What could have saved that 36 Victoria would have been to have me hang all the loose parts back on it, get it running enough to get on and off a trailer and send it through Barrett-Jackson with no reserve. But everybody thinks they have a gold mine.
