The previous owner of my 47 Clipper wisely installed an after market temp gauge which I rely on as I really want to tour in this car. Driving this car from my my home in SC to the new house in Fl in the next couple of weeks. Really looking forward to it.

I'd hurry before it gets too steam out. Forecast upper 80s next week in SC. Hope you got vintage air.

You are right! I better plan to leave early in the morning. I hope I can get my crew to leave that early!
I did drive this car to an event once that was about an hour away from my house and it was in 90° weather in the DC area. Before I started I opened the cowl vent and all the vent wings including the ones in the back.
I was comfortable as long as I didn't stop. Of course there was a major traffic jam on the beltway and I had to stop and it was pretty awful. But once I started moving again it was fine.

The Clipper tolerated the Austin heat and humidity very well. I had the radiator re-cored with multiple row tubes type which helped. Main problem was vapor lock when driving in heavy urban traffic. A bit of diesel in the gas solved that problem.

The former owner of my '46 Deluxe installed an aftermarket temp gauge, too - and a 195* t-stat. So far, it has yet to register over 195.

Good looking car. Did you have it repainted?

If you're not having fun, maybe it's your own damned fault.

Not painted. Still the original nitrocellulose paint. Car is a 10 footer but with McGuires exterior detailer the paint pops washing out the cracks. Got this tip from JWL himself!
Car is pretty much original.

Had vapor lock once. Electric fuel pump and new exhaust manifold gaskets by Ross Miller solved that one. Car still runs cool.

My Deluxe is a 25 footer, give or take. Boring Black.

My big coupe is the exact same shade.

I'm looking to find out who makes something that matches Cavalier Maroon Metallic, hence the question.

Still a damned fine looking car.
