What do you mean by kit?
Gaskets? Seals? Bearings?

One year only so may prove difficult to find without paying more than you did for the rest of the car! My original 1939 Six that I bought in the mid-‘60s had it but I never drove it enough to now whether it worked or not. As I recall, it was a fairly simple or maybe even simplistic system compared to the later ones.

Any 39-50 junior overdrive trans will fit. The overdrive does not add on to the back of your existing trans, they are built as a unit with the trans. I wouldn't get hung up on having the exact R6 unit that would be original to a 39 unless that level of originality is somehow critical. The exact unit will be hard to find. Most of the people who would care about that detail can not get their walkers close enough to the car to notice.

Whatever model you end up with R6, R9, or R11, you will need the relay and etc that match that unit. And you will need to have your driveshaft shortened.

I have a complete junior Trans/R6 OD I purchased a few years ago with the plan to put in my 39, which currently has an R9. I no longer plan to make the swap. The units have not been rebuilt but shift and turn smoothly.

I think I have the correct solenoid and relay also.

I have an original lockout cable and proper kickdown switch from my first Packard, a 1939 Six. Somewhere I have the anchor bracket and u-bolt for the cable too which held it in place under the car.

While waiting for an answer on the transmission itself, my smaller parts are links that will take you to my site where you can buy them.
