Stock spring locations would be a spring at the base of the accelerator pedal and another at the pivot on the firewall although on some 56 the accelerator spring is absent or very light. This seems to keep linkage slop fairly well controlled.

Riki's spring between the end of linkage and oil filter is not stock but there have been many added there and sometimes one heavier spring at the end of the linkage does work better than stock locations. Too many or too heavy springs and accelerator gets very twitchy and hard to finesse for a light takeoff.

Yap.

My dads does not use any other spring. Except stock

But mine. Has been there since I had the car

Of coarse had to put new one on

But idle will not drop. Without it.

Nothing to do with rod
I completely unscrewed it and it still would not come down.

Thanks for the diagram and input. I’ll be working. On that next week before I go to NY for work.

Attached is my new glovebox with head unit.

Do you have any cooling fans running.

That gets hot in there

I do not. I didn’t even think about that.

I wouldn't worry about it when it's parked. They are meant to survive the hottest days.

But driving when hot out and blasting music, it could get hot. At least make sure there is adequate space for ventilation.

'55 400. Needs aesthetic parts put back on, and electrical system sorted.
'55 Clipper Deluxe. Engine is stuck-ish.

Thanks all. I’ll double check my ventilation and put a fan in if needed.

I’m thinking when I get around to replacing the carpet and headliner I’m going to heat/sound shielding the whole interior. The car is super loud and hot when driving.

These back doors still won't lock. I have taken my car to an electrical mechanic after taking it to my normal mechanic, and it looks like this car was parted, and one of the owners along the way pulled not only electric door actuators out but all the wiring. The quote for rewiring was, "It's just too much money".

Since my front doors lock using the key in the exterior door lock. Would it be possible to lock the back doors by replacing the exterior back door handles with the key lock front door handles?
