Just can't stay away

Hello All
Have a pinion leak on my 56 Packard 400. Going to get the seal fixed.

Already go the correct seal. Would like instructions or help of how to do it correctly as

in the shop manual not too much on how to replace. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Gary

Here’s a write-up for the post-war through ’55 cars. I believe the ’56 design uses shims, versus a crush sleeve, to set the pre-load on the pinion bearings, so the obsession with returning the pinion nut to the exact pre-disassembly position could be relaxed. Getting the pinion in the exact position would still be quite acceptable in the ’56 design.

I made a long bar attached to yoke.

To hold it. Dealing with 200 ft lbs.
