A 1950 Victoria convertible also sold for $62,000.00, and apparently the paint on it wasn't perfect. So Packard did very well there this year. The 53 & 54 are both milestone cars, so they will do better.

Boys (& ladies),

I was there when the '54 crossed the block at BJ and it was a priceless moment. Earlier in the day I walked the field and spent some time looking over the '54 and found her to be a very nice example of a Caribbean. The weakest area I found was the interior (leather & small trim pieces), but all in all a very nice car. I was astounded by the price BUT I guess someone REALLY needed to own her. Remember, Packards always seem to bring top dollar at most auctions & I think us owners need to take some pride in that dynamic.

The most recent price guide, for whatever they're worth, lists a 1954 Caribbean in #1 condition at $138,700. The companion 1954 convertible is listed at $51,200 in similar condition.

my 2c says maybe some fade, glare and/or bad lighting. The seat bottom is green in pict before and in the last pict, back is a different shade of whatever color we're speaking of.

Why is everyone so surprised? I have been telling you Packard guy's you are under estimating your cars. Last year at RM auction a 54 red and white Caribbean went for $150,000 now throw in buyers premium at 10%. Last year at BJ A red and white one went for $148,000, Now throw in buyers Premium. I showed our sweet, sweet #139 of 400 in Nashville and some guy asked would this car bring in $141,000 like the one on BJ? And I said NO "It would bring More" Thanks Al Morgan

Al: Could you please answer a question for me? You stated that you showed OUR sweet #139. Do you show the Caribbean at car shows for Mr. & Mrs. Gallatin of Cookesville,TN. who is listed as the owners of the Caribbean.

From your posts and recent conversation in the chat room. I got the impression that you owned the Packards, that you have posted pictures of and talked about.

You are very correct. Johnny Garrott has saved these cars by stepping up to the plate and getting them restored and preserving them and even resto-moding one. Our company has restored these Packards and many other brands as well. Johnny lets us take them to car shows and promote our buisness. He also takes them to some car shows and usually mops up most of the trophy's. We also take other customer cars as well but the Packard guy's don't want to hear about Mustang's, Camaro's and Vette's. We have also restored 2 other Packards for other customers and I'll add their pic's also. We have even built a 32 ford high-boy from scratch but that is for someone else's website. If you read the story about the 53 clipper you will see I mention our customer, Just not by name. I hope the Packard guy's like seeing other people Packards and I enjoy putting stories behind them. I have also came up with a couple excellant Packard Products to help other out restoring theirs. When I say ours I am saying our buisness, our customers, our favorite cars. Thanks Al Morgan
