I would do it a little different from Phil's version, that is, find a master cylinder with passenger's side outlets instead of driver's side. That way, the lines are easier to access and you don't have to drill the bracket like he did, see the pic I posted.

Let me do a little research and I'll find the appropriate one.

Start here, 1986 Ford LTD Crown Victoria, $14.99 from Oreilly auto parts and IIRC, has the outlets on the correct side. Part #10-1518. And yeah, it's probably made in China but at least it's priced accordingly.

Also, IIRC, this is the master cylinder that I used on my '56 Patrician, and had zero issues using a master cylinder that came from a car that originally had a disc/drum combination, because I didn't have a proportioning valve to contend with. If you use a modern master cylinder that does give you un-equal braking, you can always add an adjustable proportioning valve and dial it in to your liking. The only time I've had to do that was with a 4 wheel disc setup I did on my old '49 Hudson.

Eric, thanks for your information. We will be out of town through Thanksgiving, "Grand Kids" not Packard time. Will purchase the master cylinder tomorrow and start on the bracket design. Installation and fine tuning will have to wait until our return.
Have a great Thanksgiving
John

John, make absolutely sure that the line outlets are on the passenger's side of the master cylinder before you buy.
