i found this fantastic site because i came accross a 52 packard for sale here in hawaii(big island) where i live. i have loved old cars ever since i can remember and have photographed them for a long time. not too much here in HI in the way of old cars though. at any rate i saw this 52 4 door for $55oo. i have been reading everything i can since i saw it. allmost went for a test drive but we put it off due to rain storm. the car has not dents, very little rust, sound glass throughout. all hardware and chrome is present. the car runs and is drivable. interior is in very good condition as well. i am told the engine was a new rebuilt in the mid '80s. auto trans
I DEFINATELY WANT THIS CAR but i hesitate because living in the islands shipping is always so high ,parts etc.
i think the price might be a bit high .....
do you guys have any advice.....?
thanks for letting me ask and thanks to all who have made such a great resource.

Hi Mike, welcome to Packard Info. I have looked at the CL ad. Given that there is likely a very tiny selection of Packard's there in the island, and shipping a car is probably a small fortune, I imagine this car is priced in the ball park. It looks to be fairly solid, with decent interior. You might take a look at it in person and see if it is solid. Chrome, paint, and interior work is very expensive. Mechanical work is less if you can do the work yourself.

Best of luck!

Yes, that would be too high in SoCal. However, that may be the only Packard ever to be offered for sale on the big island.

BTW, I used to visit twice a year on business. It's one of my favorite places in the world to just kick back.

thanks for the info. i have looked at the care twice. and it is solid and sound. there is a lot of the work i can do myself. of coarse i cant do the chrome. on my second look the chrome did not look so good. so a complete rechrome of everything will cost. and this car has fins too.
all the emblems are good except the trunk lid. the 4 hub caps are great.
i did get a lead on a chrome shop close by. so we will see.
it is so exciting to think of all the possibilities.
thanks

G'day mrmike49,
to PackardInfo. Had a look at Craigslist Hawaii, found two ads for the '52 including this older one from May. See the price is going down, so the seller might be motivated to accept a reasonable offer. And if you do buy this '52 200 Sedan, I invite you to include it in the Packard Owners Registry here on PackardInfo.

for including your '52 200 Deluxe Touring Sedan in the Packard Owners Registry.

I was a bit thrown by the change in your User Name but soon realised there probably wouldn't be 2 members from Hilo, Hawaii.
