1951 200 project update

I haven't had time to do much of an update since late July -- believe it or not, I've been too busy working on my car! A few of you suggested I start a project blog, and I may still do so. For the time being, though, I thought I'd share a few of the articles I've written on my progress:

Restoration project, Part 1

Restoration project, Part 2

Restoration project, Part 3

Restoration project, Part 4

Restoration project, Part 5

Restoration project, Part 6

A blog would certainly allow me to go into more details on the project itself (and easily get feedback), but it would also be a partial duplication of effort.

Since I was trying to get my car fired up for the Woodward Dream Cruise, I was devoting literally every moment of my free time to actual work...but that exhausting pace won't continue now that the cruise is over and most of the heavy stuff is done.

I hope everyone is enjoying the quality driving weather we have here in Michigan at the moment. I'm looking forward to getting back on the road soon...I'm sure I'll have more questions for you all in the not-too-distant future.

Graham,

I used to subscribe to AutoWeek back in the 90s.

After reading your articles, I am considering reinstating my subscription. You are an inspiration to us all!

Great work!

I am glad you are all enjoying the project. I'm having a great time doing the work, for the most part. I wouldn't recommend that anyone attempt to cram years of work into a few months unless you are young and foolish.

Still, when it's all "done" (I know that old cars are never truly finished) I know it will be worth it. I'll keep posting updates here as I write them -- looks like I'll have something for Thursday.

Wish mine was that nice! Good call slowing down and taking your time to do it right. You will be better off in the long run.

An update to the update: rather than starting a new post, I'll link to the latest installment of my project below.

Part 7

Reassembly is going slowly, but smoothly so far.

I'll poke around the forum to check, but is anyone reading this planning to attend the Glenmoor Gathering in Canton, OH this weekend?

What did you use to polish the trim to restore it to a nice shine?
