Nobody is held responsible for finger checks or sleepy entries. As long as we can see the facts, that's what is important.

"pi/4 X bore Squared X stroke X #cylinders"

Generaly accepted internet qwerty notation would be:
(((pi/4)bore**2)stroke)number of cylinders.

OR somewhat less acceptable depending on the situation:
(pi/4) X bore**2 X stroke X #cylinders.

The " ** " is used as notation for the oridnate of a mantisa.

n-th root would be X**1/n or the n-th root of x.

By the way, u used a rather ancient mathematical derivation of computing the area of the piston head (circle): pi/4 x bore**2. Just out of curiosisty, where did u see or learn that method??

I hate to be a nerd, but I am...so, a programmer would right the forumula as:

(pi/4)*bore^2*stroke*cylinders

where the ^ stands for power of, thus bore^2 is bore to the power of two.

Sincerely,

Your local friendly nerd that can't sleep .

Great! you are a nerd. Thanks for the info. My formula works for me. To all you brain surgeons out there,, MY FORMULA WORKS FOR ME,,,, if someone out there does not want to use it find your own. It is acurate. Next let's discuss combustion chamber CC and figuring compression ratio's with deck heighths and gasket thicknesses. You brain surgeons up for it?

Sure, unless I can sleep. Oh, I'm not really a brain surgeon. Actually, I'm not a surgeon at all.

Why would anyone expect a brain surgeon to know anything about automobile engines?
