1953 Body to Frame Bolts

The Parts Manual lists body bolts as:
* Inner--1, 2, 3, 4, 4 1/2

* Outer--1, 2, 3, 4, 4 1/2, 5, 6, 7

Is the '1' position in the front?

Where is 4 1/2, 5, 6, and 7?

Also, does anyone know a source for the clear red tape
(cellophane?) used for the ammeter and oil pressure lights
on the 24th-54th series?

Thanks

For the ammeter lights,

There was a thread on here awhile back that dealt with that, I'll try and find it for you.

One of the things discussed in that thread was what to use behind the instruments. You can try the clear plastic colored sheets found in a Hobby Shop. Remember to go quite dark in your color selection or the tint will appear washed out when the lights shine through.

#1 is the front bolt and the 1/2 is the short one used on convertibles or hardtops. There is a frame drawing in the service manual frame Section XI showing inner and outer locations with the 4 1/2 in dashed lines. 5, 6, and 7 are in the frame trunk area.

Don't know if this helps, but I recently removed all these bolts from my 53 clipper coupe. Here are pics of the 2 bolts in the front, near/at the bottom of the firewall in the engine compartment, and also the bolts from the passenger side from front to back. My hand is pointing to what would be the front of the car.
For clarity, frameBolt1 is the pass side in the front, frameBolt2 is driver side, and BoltsPassSide from left to right, 1)right by the A pillar, 2)near front seat frame-bolt that does not go through to pass compartment(I broke that one) 3)B pillar, 4)under back seat 5)longest bolt is over rear axle hump, 6)trunk. These numbers are not the same as you listed, but I hope the description is clear.

Body will be lifted off soon and sandblasted....then we'll see how much needs to be welded. :-/
