Reducing the size of the jets will not make it burn cooler. In fact, the opposite will occur.
Given the ethanol now present in gasoline, the more common exercise is enlarging the jets. As far as fuel, regular 87 octane will work fine in your car. Cheers, Tom

Thanks Tom,
As you can see, I have much to learn. You are probably familiar with the jet on those carburetors...a fine sized chunk of copper. Any idea of who can modify it?

There is a fellow in Phoenix that specializes on the early updraft carburetors.
Classic Carburetors Attn: Mark Buber 3116 East Shea Blvd. Phoenix, AZ 85028 602-971-3300 He rebuilt my Detroit lubricator and did a great job. It can take a long time, however. Tom
