Stewart I believe Kev sold off the last of them some months ago. I bought one.

PA Packards club has a tool for even cheaper than MM.

'55 400. Needs aesthetic parts put back on, and electrical system sorted.
'55 Clipper Deluxe. Engine is stuck-ish.

I found the PA Packard club site. It's actually the Keystone Packard Club. The tool is listed but there is no way to purchase it on the site. I tried calling the number. The call connected but no one was on the line.

I found the stand-off on McMAster & Carr site. Every time I order from them they want $16 or $18 to ship a $2 part.

Now that I know what to look for, I'll if I can find it elsewhere.

I have the hex.

And can drill it.

I just use a small 1/4 inch wrench.

Instead of a handle.

Freight is almost always a pain for small items and why I mentioned McMaster with the caveat if you needed to order something else.

Some of the better hardware stores carry coupling nuts in small sizes. While 5/16 on the flat is more the norm for the smaller size nuts some of them are 1/4 hex. Downside to coupling nuts is they are shorter and the threads you need to drill out are also much smaller so more metal to get rid of. The short length can be taken care of by drilling the handle deeper and letting the excess shaft length bury in the handle.

Amazon also carries standoffs in 1/4 size but the cost is up there -- quite a bit more than McMaster. In effect even if Amazon prime offers free delivery you are still paying for freight but not quite as much.

Check with Ross or Gerry on those dash tools, as I know some came out of the estate from Calif and I don't know if they went with stuff I sent to Ross, or they stayed with Gerry.

I forgot you have a local electronics store or maybe even a hardware store , they would have stand-offs.

I found it.
20 minutes after I quit looking. It was in the back seat of one of my trucks. I have no memory of carrying it out there.

I got the heater core box in place today.
Now I have a dumb question. I am almost embarrassed to ask.

Where does the spring on the throttle connect? I have been looking on here for pictures but cannot locate any. I suspect it goes there next to the firewall, in the last photo, to the throttle connections down there.

Two possibilities on the spring. When 55s came out it was under the floor directly on the accelerator pedal linkage. Apparently that was not enough in some cases or maybe caused some feel issues so it was moved to a part of the linkage that was closer to the carb and anchored to the lower flange of the firewall. Some cars have both springs.

I am not making a lot of progress at the moment.
I did pull the front seat frame out of storage recently. A part of me wants to rip off all that old nasty leather and clean up the whole frame.

The other part is afraid that a future interior shop would appreciate having it there.

Any suggestions?
