Packard Hawk "rebirth"

I'm new to this site, however I've wanted a Packard since 1975 (I was 15). My wife spotted me looking at a Hawk 5 years ago and wanted to know "What the heck kinda car is that?" I had told her it was my dream car, to which she replied "your almost 50- if thats your dream car go buy it"
I about fell over and no she didn't tell me twice. This is a Northern California car and it only had light surface rust in the trunk.

The fella I bought it from got it from original owner and never transfered it out of his name. He owned it for 20 years and was going to restore it "someday" Sadly he got a divorce and it ended up on EBAY. I was bidding with 1 other guy who drove the price up on me, however, living in the rust belt it was worth paying a bit more rather than a body shop lots more.

I wanted one of these since I was a kid, but not a Beige one. I have owned it nearly 5 years and have completly rebuilt it, Only thing left to do is install the interior and headliner which will happen as soon as it warms up.

Rarebird,

Congratulations with both your wife and car.
Impressing restoration of the car. You were smart and bougt the car when you were young, I waited untill I was 64 before I bought my Clipper.

I can't beleive that only 2 were produced with this color combonation. The main color is Shadowtone Red Metallic and it is stunning in the sunlight.

Beautiful Packard!
You have a great wife! And great car!
I also have been blessed with a great wife and a great Packard!
My dream car has been since I was 16 or so and also a Packard.
I still dream of owning a 1941 Packard convertible coupe.

Words like that out of wife's mouth is a rare occurrence, indeed. It happened to me, once.
We had just purchased a second-hand pop-up camper from a private party, and noticed a car under a cover in the garage. It was a 1962 Porsche 356 Super 90 Cabriolet. I sat in it, and my wife said, "You've gotta buy that." I did what I was told.

Here's how i handle those situations:
I just show up at the house with what ever i've bought (usualy junk), walk into the house, have a seat and wait for the rant and raving to start. IT starts usually before i even walk into the door.
I just sit there and let her rant and lecture until she wears herself out. I don't say a single word. When she's done i look up at her and say "what's for supper?" (or lunch or breakfast depending on the time of day). And mite even add "bring me a beer and hand me the remote".

Works for me!! Rock'n roll.
