How much play should there be where the idler lever shaft (part 3.3031) passes through the support assembly (part 3.3046)? I have quite a bit of play in these parts and I can wobble the shaft at least a quarter of an inch. Obviously the castle nut can be tightened to take up some of the slack, just not sure how tight this should be.

Mine has barely perceptible wobble movement. It's not mounted so no big torque is possible. 3031 rotates easily in the hole. As to side to side movement, none. Controlled by the nut. As to the twisting or wobble, I can hold either piece and the other moves maybe 1/16" at it's end. At 1/4", I'd suspect yours is a bit excessive. If you disassembled yours, expect you would find an elongated hole or a really worn end on 3031.
