Vacuum Advance Question

I have a leaking Vacuum Advance unit and need to replace it. I have found both an NOS unit and a new unit offered by one the known Packard Parts suppliers. I am concerned whether there are seals and such that can deteriorate over time with the NOS unit. Would appreciate any advice you might have on this. This is for a 37 115 Autolite Distributor.

Thanks for your help,

Tom

Dear Tom:

You are correct to be concerned about the shelf life.

The unit you buy should be bench tested and guaranteed by the seller. You can also bench test it yourself using a hand vacuum pump. In fact simply sucking on the line will suffice.

If you want one rebuilt it will be more expensive, but I can provide you with a talent who can do it.

Hope this helps

Terrill Machine in Texas rebuilds them. My vac adv was leaking so bad the engine would not idle. I ordered one from Max Merritt because of lead time from Terrill
