Mr PB,

Clicked into the link provided and after reading about the Packard plant sale noticed one of the other items on the link was about a koala hit by a car and surviving. Koalas do get hit by cars and most would not survive, so my interest was piqued. Reading the story and viewing the pic it seemed obvious this was a beat up, so I hope the Packard plant one was too.

PS - Koalas do have a chlamydia problem and it seems this is a greater threat to them than getting hit by cars!

Is nothing sacred? I guess nothing over 50 years old is good enough to save for "progress". Next they'll be selling these:

Europe is full of buildings 500 years old, survived bombing during WWII,they are true monuments to the past. America is a young country, yet we bulldoze anything in the way of a new shopping mall. Can't we save some of these old buildings? Alot of these industrial buildings from the past get turned into lofts, businesses, & warehousing. I guess these buildings were to far gone. I think the detroit economic status kind of ends that possibility.

"The Packard plant on East Grand Boulevard in Detroit was designed by Albert Kahn, and included the first use of reinforced concrete for industrial construction in Detroit. When opened in 1903, it was considered the most modern automobile manufacturing facility in the world. The plant closed in 1957 ( although parts of it are still rented out ). The plant complex covers 35 acres ( 3.5 Million Square feet )"

I guess I won't be seeing the packard building after all

Chlamydia????? Isn't that genital warts or some kind of STD???? I didn't know animals could get STD's. About 20% or Americans have an STD.

If I had the money,..... the front door to my house would get a considerable "upgrade"! I honestly hope it goes to a Packard museum to be their front door instead of going to some rich a$$hole to put in their private home so no one could see it.

If we all pooled our funds, do you think BigKev's wife would let us install it at his house?

V8,

It is an STD and apparently it is devastating for Koalas. So much so that considerable research is being done to find a cure for this Koala Kalamity. I think the % for Koalas is way north of 20%.

Ron,

I believe that Kev has already bid and won, as the pic attests. He said it was taken in Detroit, but we know better!
